Ekkehart H. Schieffer and Wilfried Schieffer-Adick

This year we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of our family-owned company - a good opportunity to pause for a moment, even at a special time, and delve into the history. What moved the founder Anton Schieffer, how did the original technical trader become the modern and internationally oriented industrial company and what will the company need in terms of "equipment" in order to be able to survive the next decades true to the slogan "shaping the future with system"? Who were and are the people behind the success of the medium-sized company, what "imprint" did they pass on to their descendants and what will be needed today and in the future to perpetuate the success?

Accompany us on a foray through our history, with its stories and anecdotes, about the factories and the family, about the machines and the people, about the traditions and innovations. A technical distributor that in the beginning concentrated on the materials rubber and plastic, that early recognized the need to build up also a manufacturing and thus could lay the foundation for the future success.

From the foundation to the reconstruction

Anton and his family could almost speak of luck that the Royal Air Force had destroyed their house, office and storage rooms in Düsseldorf in 1943, because otherwise they would probably never have landed in little Lippstadt. Industrialization at Schieffer

The new company building at Goethestraße 55-57, which was inaugurated at the end of 1962, was the foundation stone for the future industrialization of the company. Tschätsch, then a graduate engineer, and his assistant Ferdinand Holtschneider laid the first organizational structures for the new "Technology" department. Production was divided into the areas of "technical rubber parts with punching shop and automatic hose cutting machines" and "vulcanization of rubber conveyor belts"...

Division organization

Initially, the unification of all production sites, administration and logistics was seen as a milestone and celebrated. It was a real tour de force that shareholders and many employees had implemented together. Production processes were optimized and logistics and shipping could now also be significantly improved. The commute between Goethestraße, which is now a purely residential area, and Mondschein had, with a few exceptions, finally come to an end...

Internationalization

The "juniors", Wilfried at 41 and Ekkehart at 31, were able to rely on the experienced leadership of the "seniors Egon and Joachim". Reinhard Schulte and Hermann Girkens, together with Wilfried Schieffer-Adick, managed the administration, while Johannes Wulf (FL) and Dieter Goertz (KK), together with Ekkehart, were responsible for the operational business areas. A daring outlook

The good news: The company exists! The 3rd generation Schieffer, Wilfried and Ekkehart, have long since retired, the 4th generation with new management teams established for many years. The product groups plastics, rubber and silicones also still exist, because weight reductions and the transformation of e.g. steel, metal and sheet metal into ultra-light materials have long since advanced. The demand for new components and assemblies to be developed has increased further, forcing the company to specialize to a much greater extent than was considered necessary in the 1920s...
